The Anthropocenium is a curated space for ideas, thoughts, art, poetry, writing, inspiration, views and comment. We live in a geo-political era known as the anthropocene. This is our current epoch that dates from the beginning of significant impact on the Earth’s ecosystems by humans. Not only is this relevant to our physical planet but it is also reflected in our art, culture, science, politics and life.

BULLOCK (2004)
The Bone Paintings (2020) work in progress

A new body of work from Andy Bullock. These paintings reflect the widely understood notion that in one million years time (the human race will more than likely be extinct) the most significant geological marker that the future’s archeologists are likely to find, as evidence of our occupation of the Earth, will be chicken bones. We currently consume 65 billion birds per year, the majority of which will end up in landfill sites; the perfect environment for future fossilisation.

This is the title of a Fine Art Masters Degree research thesis and practice by Andy Bullock being undertaken at the School of Art, Oxford Brookes University.
It is an investigation and artistic interpretation of the work of genius mathematician Clifford Hugh Dowker (1912 – 1982) and in particular his ‘Notes on Sheaf Theory’ published in 1956 which has become a seminal text on the subject of topology. He also posited the notion of a ‘Dowker Space’, an abstract topological space that bears his name to this day.
FOUNDATIONS
A new poetry film by bullock+studzinskza.
The poem ‘Foundations’, written and spoken by Agnieszka Studzinska and set against weaving, opaque, abstract imagery and sound by Andy Bullock.
The poem is from a new body of work from Studzinska’s third book, The Branches of a House which explores and questions the poet’s relationship to the image and notion of home in poetry.
